Marc GUICHARD holds an engineer diploma from ESSTIN (Ecole Supérieure des Sciences et Technologies de l’Ingénieur de Nancy - Higher School in Engineering Science and Technology) with a specialisation in fluid mechanics. From 1980 to 1989, he worked in several technological and market development capacities with the French Mobil Oil company and with the French bank Crédit Agricole. In 1990, he took part to the inception of INIST, the scientific library of the CNRS (1200 labs, 26000 employees including 11000 researchers) as its Marketing Director. He was later to be in charge of product and services development for INIST. As Deputy Director, he is now responsible for exploring and devising development actions and international partnerships in an Internet-dominated environment and for leading national-level negotiations with publishers for digital resources access . He is a member of several professional associations in the field of information (IFLA, EUSIDIDIC, NFAIS, ICSTI, AGSI, GFII, etc.). He is also a member of the steering committee of the CNRS's Institut des Sciences de la Communication (Institute for Communication Sciences).
